A beautiful driveway and patio starts where you can’t see it. The correct ground preparation and a solid foundation are the most important parts of any installation. We never cut corners, ensuring your driveway and hard landscape are built to last for years, not just look good on day one.

Chrisna SFarnham · PatioI had Fred and the team come in to build a small patio in the back garden and they were absolutely fantastic. Very friendly, the work was done quickly, and I am now able to enjoy a cup of coffee on my lovely patio!
Fred and Zac were great at keeping me up to date with their progress, made sure I was involved in any decision making, but also were quick to offer their expert advice when asked.
I would definitely recommend Fred & the team to everyone who wanted to get work done and will for sure use them again for anything I do in the future.

Kathleen WShoreham · Tarmac drivewayFred came around the same day we phoned him to give us a quote we didn’t go with him straight away and got another couple of quotes. We chose to go with fred and let him know on the Wednesday and 9 days later our new tarmac driveway was complete with no stress. We will not be doing our patio this year as we have other expenses however when we do I will give the job to Fred and his team.

Christian LBillingshurst · Garden and driveway redesignCouldn't fault the overall finish of the job, the weather wasn't on there side, so overran by a few days. Have had so many compliments about the finished patio and drive from neighbours and passers by. Can't fault the price or finish.
04 — Start to finish
Every installation follows the same sequence, and the depths worked to at each stage are what determine how long it lasts. This is what happens on a standard driveway, so you know exactly what you are paying for.
We visit the property to measure the area, assess the existing levels and establish where surface water currently runs. You then receive a written quotation setting out the materials, the specification and a fixed price. There is no deposit and no obligation at this stage.
The existing surface and any soft ground are excavated to the depth the specification requires. All excavated material is loaded and removed from site as we go, so nothing is left standing on the driveway or the verge.
A geotextile membrane is installed across the formation, followed by MOT Type 1 sub-base compacted in layers rather than in one pass. This stage is what keeps the surface true, and it is the one most often rushed.
Kerbs and edge restraints are bedded on concrete and haunched so the surface cannot spread under load. Where the levels call for it, we install a channel drain or soakaway to carry water away from the property.
The chosen surface is installed, whether that is block paving, resin bound or tarmac, with joints filled and consolidated as the material requires. The site is then swept, washed down and left clean before we hand it back to you.
